Caylus won't be for everyone, if you are looking for a quick game to play with your kids, this ain't it. Something fun to play with your spouse? This ain't it. But it is a great game if you love intense, mid-length games.

Here is how the US importer, Rio Grande Games, describes Caylus:
"1289. To strengthen the borders of the Kingdom of France, King Philip the Fair decided to have a new castle built. For the time being, Caylus is but a humble village, but soon, workers and craftsmen will be flocking by the cartload, attracted by the great prospects. Around the building site, a city is slowly rising upxThe players embody master builders. By building the King’s castle and developing the city around it, they earn prestige points and gain the King’s favor. When the castle is finished, the player who has earned the most prestige wins the game.!"

All the Rules that are Fit to Print!
A game is an investment, sure, you'll spend more on going out to a movie for a family of 4, but if you are going to spend your hard earned dollars on a new game, you want it to be something you can play over and over again, you don't want it to become too stale or boring. So if you want to get a better in-depth look at Caylus, check out the link to the rules on Rio Grande's website.

Don't want to take my word for it? Check out Caylus on boardgamegeek.com, I won't hold it against you (maybe just a little).

And are you like me, do you mispell, misspel, misspell words all the time? Here are some of the ways I've spelled Caylus incorrectly: Cylus, Caelus, Calus.
